About War of Films
The War of Films is an online film contest that rewards the most popular film on Film Annex's network with $2000 and the most active voter with $400 (US, Canada, and UK only) at the end of each month.
Viewers can vote on their most and least favorite films once a day by using the plus (+) and minus (-) symbols on top of the player.
You can also embed the War of Films WIDGETS on your website to increase your views and spread the word about the contest!
How do you put your film in the contest?
If you're uploading a new film, check the War of Films box under the "Available Contests" section on the upload form.
If you already have a film that you want to include in the War of Films, go to "MyPage" and click on "Admin Your Movies" and then "Edit Movie Data" for a specific movie. Scroll down and check the War of Films box.
RULES AND GUIDELINES
FILMMAKERS:
1) The winner of the $2000 will be the the short or the feature film that has the highest number of votes by the last day of the month at midnight (EST). Only full-length films (shorts or features) are eligible to win the War of Films and the $2000 monthly prize. If you're only uploading trailers, interviews, or b-rolls, these clips will not get you to the prize even if they receive the highest number of votes. That said, if you upload a trailer on the same profile as your full-length film, the votes received on the trailer will count towards the movie itself.
If you are participating in the contest with a web series, you are eligible to win ONLY ONCE with one of the episodes.
2) PAYMENT: The winning filmmaker will be paid TWO WEEKS after the last day of the month. So if you win the January contest, you will get paid on the 15th of February, if you win the February contest, you will get paid on the 15th of March, etc. For international filmmakers, the best way to get paid is through PayPal. It’s the safest and most efficient way to receive your prize. If you don’t have a PayPal account, you can create one today http://www.paypal.com. If you’re in the United States, we can send a check to your address or pay you through Paypal.
3) The votes will be refreshed at the beginning of each month and all films will start from 0 (zero) for the following month's contest
4) The filmmaker who wins the $2000 can join the contest again with a different film, but will not be eligible to win the prize again with the same film.
5) The winning filmmaker will benefit from increasing page views, advertising revenues, and film sales.
